Load-shedding shows up on CCTV in a boring way. The yard goes dark on the app, the gate does not open, and the footage you wanted from last night stops twenty minutes after the lights did. AVX Solutions gets called for this in Pretoria and on the north of Johannesburg more than for almost any other fault.
Write down the chain. The camera, the cable, the switch, the recorder, the screen in the guard house. Any one of those on a normal plug will end the recording. The gate motor is a separate chain, often with a battery that was never dated. Intercoms die on their own plug above the pedestrian door.
Test it. Kill the power to the DB that feeds the gate, with the electrician if you are not sure which breaker is which. See if the gate opens, if the beams still hold it, and if a person can release it without a grinder. Two adults should know that release. One of them should not be the only trustee with the software password.
When the power returns, walk the pictures. Some cameras come back overexposed and stay that way until someone notices a week later. Check that the recorder did not fill its disk with a reboot loop.
If you want it done on the property, book a security assessment from Brooklyn or Sandown. We will not pretend a PDF adds battery capacity.
What stays powered at the gate and the recorder is part of a security assessment.
